There are some kitchen gadgets that you absolutely need, like a can opener, vegetable peeler, scrub brush, etc. And then there are others that aren’t technically necessities but just make life so much easier. I’m about to tell you about one of the latter, a find that solves one of the peskiest problems in your kitchen. Sure, you could get along without it, but for $8, why would you?

Meet the OXO Good Grips Collection Bag Clip Set. I had high hopes for these handy helpers right off the bat when I saw they were from OXO, a brand we absolutely adore for thoughtful, high-performing kitchen and storage solutions. The Bag Clips are designed to replace the twist ties and bread clips that seal up pretty much every loaf and plastic bag in your fridge and pantry. They’re easy to use, fun to look at, and (just like everything from OXO) phenomenal at their job.

With all of the advancements of the past decades, twist-tie technology has somehow remained stuck in the twentieth century — until now. These clips up the bag-sealing game, applying a carabiner-like design to an everyday household item. Each one features a non-slip button that, when pushed, creates an opening. Just bunch or twist the empty part of a plastic bag of beans, bread, and the like so that it fits in the opening and take your finger off of the button. The durable, reusable cinchers will keep your food airtight (sure beats searching under all of my countertop appliances for the twist tie I could have sworn I’d just had in my hand!). Because the clips come in bright, eye-catching colors, they’re easy to spot in your drawer. Personally, I hate cluttering up my kitchen drawers, so I clipped them to the metal frame of my baker’s cart. They look great, adding a subtle dose of brightness and fun to the kitchen.

And I’m far from the only one who thinks so. This OXO fave has a solid 4.8/5 rating on Amazon, with reviewers calling it “so much better than twist ties,” “sturdy and perfect to use with my arthritic fingers,” and “easy and convenient to use.” I’ll add that they also help save money; because they keep food fresher longer, I’m throwing out fewer items that have gone stale before I’ve had a chance to eat them. Not bad for $8!
