H&M Home and Pantone’s Colorful New Collection Celebrates How Hues Affect Emotions
When you’re decorating your home, the colors you choose are important, and not only for aesthetics. Colors can affect your mood, which is why you’ve probably felt calmest and most inspired when surrounded by blues, greens, and other earthy shades, and most joyful around pops of pinks and oranges. Perhaps no brand understands how color can make you feel about your space like Pantone, and its latest collection in partnership with H&M Home boasts the perfect color combo to match whatever ambience you’re going for.
The collection — most of which sold out soon after its U.K. release on January 26 — celebrates two color palettes: Calm & Soothing and Energy & Joy, and is meant to explore how our emotions are stirred and influenced by our moods. The Calm & Soothing palette evokes tranquility and big, open spaces in nature, such as the sky and sea, and includes Pantone’s pistachio (2260C), petrol (548C), green (5545C), and mid blue (2178C) colors, all of which make for great additions to any space that requires peace and clarity, like a bedroom or home office.
The Energy & Joy palette, however, draws its inspiration from vitality, heat, and passion. It’s perfect for homes that need a pop — or a splash — of color without being too loud or intrusive, and includes Pantone’s pink (707C), red (3517C), orange (2027C), and apricot (2022C) shades.
“Color is essential for both our home and our senses,” Evelina Kravaev-Söderberg, Head of Design & Creative at H&M Home, said in a press statement. “No one understands this better than Pantone, who are the foremost experts on how color can influence how we work and live.”
“The H&M Home x Pantone collection allows us to highlight how much difference the power of color makes in our day-to-day life, with a selection of modern interior objects to add to one’s home,” she added. “Choose from one of the scented candles and see how the smell of red makes you feel or add a pistachio-colored vase to your living room space, infusing a peaceful and beautiful addition.”
In December 2022, Pantone announced its Color of the Year as Viva Magenta, so it’s unsurprising that the collaboration with H&M Home has a similar mood-boosting palette to complement the 2023 hue.
Though its range of vases, candles, and homewares currently sold out, you can still shop the extremely cozy (and in stock) cushion covers, in six shades (Energy & Joy: bright red, light orange, and light pink, and Calm & Soothing: dark turquoise, turquoise, and light green), while supplies last online at H&M and in select stores.
