As someone who genuinely loves fashion (and owns the shoes to prove it), my tiny but mighty NYC bedroom often feels like one extended closet. Right next to my actual closet, my dresser top is home to jewelry, sunglasses, and beauty products, while belts and baseball caps tend to float from drawer to chair to doorknob. In a bedroom this small, the biggest challenge is finding a place for everything — and my jewelry was starting to feel like it had nowhere to land.

So when I stumbled across an Apartment Therapy article about repurposing a paper towel holder for jewelry storage, I paused. It felt almost too simple. A kitchen accessory … in my bedroom? Still, in a small space, vertical storage is everything. I figured it was worth a shot.

Why a Paper Towel Holder Is a Brilliant Jewelry Storage Gem

As shown in this TikTok video, a paper towel holder is perfect for stacking bracelets, bangles, scrunchies, or hair ties. It’s freestanding, vertical, compact, and affordable — and it requires zero drilling. Many designs also include a curved handle at the top, which makes the whole thing easy to pick up and move wherever you need it. In other words, it’s basically a ready-made jewelry stand hiding in plain sight.

What Happened When I Put a Paper Towel Holder in My Bedroom

I opted for this paper towel holder from Amazon because the silver finish complements the color palette in my room perfectly (this one also comes in gold and there are marble options if that’s more your vibe). Setup took all of 30 seconds (just tightening two screws), and the transformation was immediate.

Before incorporating the holder, my bangles and bracelets lived in a cloth packing cube tucked somewhere in my closet (I know, it sounds chaotic). Now they’re displayed right alongside my jewelry, giving me a clear view of what I own and, more importantly, easy access instead of digging through random places.

It’s funny how much more you remember — and actually use — your accessories when they’re not hidden away.
