This Luxe, All-Season Duvet Cover and Shams Set Makes Me Feel Like I’m In a Fancy Hotel — and It’s on Sale!
When it comes to bedding, I’ve always gone pretty basic and utilitarian (think: basically college-level comforters and sheets) but since I moved into my new apartment a few months ago, I decided that it was time for a more classic, elegant aesthetic. So when Peacock Alley, a company that was credited with the idea of inventing luxury linens, offered me the chance to try out their sateen duvet cover and shams, I jumped on the opportunity.
The Soprano Trim Sateen Duvet Cover looks like it would be in a 5-star luxury hotel. With its timeless-looking Soprano Trim, I knew that I could have this duvet cover for decades, and it would still look chic. I got the Full/Queen duvet cover size, though there is also a King size available. As for the sham, I got Standard, though there are King and Euro sizes as well. One thing to note is that the sham only comes with one sham. I opted for the Pewter color in both the duvet cover and shams, because both match my many gray sheet sets, but they also comes in Ivory, Platinum, and Blue. After unboxing the duvet and shams, I found them to be soft and supple. Some duvet covers that look like they belong in hotels can feel too starchy and stiff in an effort to keep them unwrinkled, but that wasn’t the case with Peacock Alley’s Soprano Trim Sateen Duvet Cover.
Handmade in Dallas, Texas, from fabric that originated from Portugal, the duvet cover and shams both boast 100 percent long-staple cotton and a 420 thread count. The softness can’t be understated — this is by far the most luxurious bedding I have ever slept on. The comforter and shams both have delicate buttons expertly stitched onto the openings, which adds a special touch. Even though changing bedding is one of my least favorite activities, even putting the new shams on my pillows was a splendid experience, knowing the level of craftsmanship that went into making these.
A concern I have when buying new bedding is that I live in a one-bedroom apartment with less-than-generous storage space. So, when it comes to bedding, I prefer duvet covers that can live on my bed year-round, and this one fit the bill. This duvet cover and shams doesn’t feel too heavy during the hottest days of August, and I’m confident that I would feel very cozy under this duvet in the winter. I might add on a winter blanket onto my bed, but I do that with all of the duvet covers and comforters I own.
In short, the Peacock Alley Soprano Trim Sateen Duvet Cover and Soprano Trim Sateen Sham instantly turned my bed into an oasis. I felt like I had my life together, and now I actually enjoy making up the bed in the mornings. It has made going to sleep and rising the next day a more joyful experience, which I never thought I would say about bedding.
