Pottery Barn Launches PB Apartment To Focus on Small Spaces

We’ve always thought small was cool, but we’re glad to see that major retailers are getting the memo. Now Pottery Barn is betting on smaller spaces in a big way with their new brand, PB Apartment.

It was big news when the major retailer debuted their first small spaces line in 2017, especially since it almost became synonymous with decor for big, suburban houses in the ’90s and 2000s. And then in September, the company reaffirmed its city roots by opening its NYC flagship (the first store opened in Chelsea in 1949).

Now, Pottery Barn is betting big on small with a whole separate brand for apartment dwellers. As of today, the new collection will be available online and in 80 stores in the U.S. and Canada.

“PB Apartment broadens the reach of the iconic Pottery Barn brand by addressing the evolving needs of existing customers and embracing the next generation of Pottery Barn customers,” says company president Marta Benson.

As with designing any small space, multipurpose pieces are key, and organization and scale are important. The items are generally 20 to 30 percent smaller than Pottery Barn’s average sizes, which helps when you’re working with a tinier floor plan (and those tricky city staircases). PB Apartment will also offer their in-house Design Crew’s services to help customers figure out the best way to lay out their small spaces. Plus, the in-home or in-store consultation services are free.

In addition to the new site, the brand also launched its social platforms, and plan to offer tips like square footage-based room design ideas, product guides highlighting multi-functionality and versatility, and decorating ideas.
