We’ve shown you some stylish DIYs for your pooch, but let’s not forget about the cat lovers. Sure our cats may not give us their undivided attention, or the tail-wagging welcome of a dog, but it’s important to give them a home that feels like home. Whether it’s a cozy crochet cat cave, a handmade toy, or a realistic climbing tree in the living room, our kitties need (and deserve) to be spoiled. Just don’t take it personally if they reject the project you spend hours making…they’re still cats, remember? Although, with these chic projects, I think the chances are pretty high they’ll be thanking you with some extra cuddle time in the near future.

If you like crochet (and we know your cat does) make a cozy kitty home by following this “cat oven” tutorial from Dapper Toad, inspired by Eilen Tein’s pattern.

Keep your furniture clear from claw marks (okay, maybe) with a simple wood and rope cat scratcher, also from Almost Makes Perfect.

Or try a dual-function pet project: a cat-scratcher decorative vase. By wrapping a large vase in rope and adding a stand for stability, you can keep your kitty away from that nice arm chair or fancy rug without having an overly obtrusive scratcher taking up space in your home. See how over on Meow Lifestyle.

No feline-friendly home would be complete without a few catnip toys! Lia Griffith shows how to make your own.

If you’re handy with a jigsaw, give Sassy her privacy with a cat-cutout litter box cover, complete with ventilation and hinged doors for easy cleaning. Laura has the step-by-step over on A Beautiful Mess.

These next two are not for the feline faint of heart: Recreate the look of Palm Springs with an incredible cat house, also over on A Beautiful Mess. Now, if only we could guarantee our cats would use it, right?

And lastly, the ultimate cat-bitat project! Brittany Goldwyn makes this giant cat tree with real branches and rocks, and some faux fur for comfort. If you’re really dedicated to making your cat feel at home, this might be the way to go.
