Is your range hood taking away from the cozy, cottage aesthetic you have going on in your kitchen? If so, one Instagram user has a way to easily fix that — and when I say easy, I mean easy. You just need two things to make your range hood completely disappear — and you can likely score both of them at the thrift store.

“I’m about to show you the easiest DIY ever,” creator Samantha Broughman said in a recent Instagram video. “All you’re going to need is a tension rod and a curtain. Literally just put [it] to each side of your cabinet, fix her up a little bit, and that’s it. The most simple DIY ever.”

Just like that — poof! Your range hood has magically disappeared and been replaced with the cutest cottagecore curtain ever.

Why People Love Adding a Curtain in Front of a Range Hood

People not only loved the finished project’s appearance, but also how easy it was to complete. “Precious! Love the cozy it adds,” one person commented on Broughman’s post. Another said, “Mine is the same and I always wanted to do a wooden built-in thing around it, but this is a lot simpler!”

And someone else added, “Oh, I love this! It being quick and easy makes it even that much better!!!”

Broughman said she sourced both her curtains and her tension rod from a thrift store, but you can also grab both items online (like these curtains). Just make sure you measure the space between the top of your kitchen cabinets and the bottom edge of your range hood to find curtains that have the correct length. You can also cut them down if they’re too long and use hem tape to secure the raw edge.

Of course, because these curtains are being hung above your stove, take caution and never leave your stove unattended while in use. And you may want to wash these curtains regularly to prevent grease buildup.

But in just a few seconds, you can give your range hood a cottagecore makeover without having to get out the power tools. Now that’s my kind of DIY!
