These DIY Custom Beaded Bathroom Cabinets Are Totally Renter Friendly, According to TikTok
Renters are constantly looking for new ways to upgrade their spaces without putting their security deposit at risk. And one renter on TikTok just came up with a brilliant way to temporarily upgrade her bathroom cabinets using peel-and-stick vinyl and some wood beads from Amazon.
TikToker HotPinkPineapples (@HotPinkPineapples) did a complete overhaul of her apartment bathroom, including her bathroom vanity (you can see a previous iteration of her bathroom renovation here). Not only did she repaint the vanity (which she plans to change back to white before she leaves this apartment), but she also upgraded the cabinets with a vintage-style bead detail — and thanks to the layer of vinyl underneath everything, this DIY is totally reversible.
First, HotPinkPineapples covered each cabinet door with paintable vinyl she picked up on Amazon. Not only does adhering the vinyl make things easier when it’s time to move in terms of repainting, but she’s also now able to use glue on the cabinets, too, without fear of damaging the actual surface.
She then cut down some thin strips of wood to frame out each door before attaching the halved 15 mm wood beads she bought on Amazon using E-6000 glue. Though HotPinkPineapples used small finishing nails to attach the wood frames, you could probably use glue to avoid filling in nail holes later down the road.
Finally, a coat of paint and some new gold knobs makes everything come together and look so fresh and new (yet vintage at the same time).
And sticky vinyl came in clutch, too, when she decided to upgrade the tilework in her bathroom. Though, admittedly, HotPinkPineapples isn’t sure how long these vinyl clings will last.
This commenter said it best: “People who DIY in temporary places for their peace of mind are on a higher frequency. They know their mental health is worth it!” And when projects are this easy to complete, why not treat yourself to some aesthetic magic?
