Splurging on expensive custom kitchen storage solutions might not be an option, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put every inch of your cabinets to work with a few strategic upgrades. Case in point: Home renovation company Reico Kitchen & Bath shared an Instagram Reel of a pull-out shelf that doubles the storage space in your cupboards, while also making everything easier to access. What’s more, this organizing hero is currently almost 50% off!

The kitchen cabinets above my fridge and microwave are the hardest ones for me to reach, which is why I’ve filled them up with holiday bakeware and appliances that I don’t use as often. It’s always a pain when I have to grab a step stool and take everything out on the counter in order to get to a mixer or springform pan in the back corner. Additionally, the hard-to-access height of these cupboards also means that there’s a lot of dead space at the top that I can’t reach even with my step stool — while other cabinets are crammed to the brim.

So, I did a double take seeing the video, which shows how the renovation company was able to install the steel Rev-A-Shelf pull-down wall cabinet shelf system from Wayfair in the cupboards above the refrigerator.

“Stop scrolling if you’re tired of straining to reach high cabinets,” they wrote, calling it the “ultimate solution for kitchen, bathroom, or wall-mounted pantry storage” while demonstrating the cabinet shelf system’s pull-down capabilities.

Currently on sale for $569.99, the Rev-A-Shelf system normally costs $1,079.99 for the 22-inch width shelf, which features two sturdy attached chrome shelf baskets that you can mount inside of the cabinet. You can pull your shelves down whenever you need them and they’ll lock in place hands-free, allowing you to continue with your task while you access the contents of your shelf.

Some caveats to keep in mind: these are built-ins that you basically install yourself, so you’ll need to make sure they fit in your cabinet before ordering them. According to Wayfair’s website, the shelves are 8.38 inches in height, 10.5 inches deep, and can hold up to 17 pounds. You’ll need at least a 21-inch wide opening on your cabinets, as well as 10.75 inches in depth and 18.5 inches in height, to make sure it all fits.

There’s also a larger size for wider spaces (on sale for $609.99 from $1,059.99) that’s 34 inches in width, as well as 18.38 inches in height and 10.5 inches deep. For this model — which holds 24.05 pounds — you’ll need at least a 33-inch wide opening, 10.75 inches in depth, and 18.5 inches in height, according to Wayfair’s website.

Several happy customers commented on some of the pull-down organizer’s “good quality” and “functional” design, with one wondering, “How did I manage without this all this time?” Meanwhile, a home designer gave it the ultimate seal of approval by calling it the “best and least expensive way to modify [a] kitchen” for a client who was in a wheelchair and wanted to better reach her wall cabinets.

However, several people noted that the shelving unit was heavy and difficult to install, so you might want to consider having someone help you put it together and mount it on the wall.
