For most of my adult life, I lived without a rug in my home. Mostly because, I was very afraid of me (or one of my roommates) spilling on it. Rugs seemed like a luxury to me, like something that you bought once you had your life together, or at least your own apartment. When I discovered the concept of Ruggable, a direct-to-consumer company that makes washable rugs and collaborates with famous home designers on exclusive designs, like Jonathan Adler, Justina Blakeney, the late Iris Apfel, and many more, I knew I had to try it.

Ruggable’s washable rugs are designed to be popped into the washer, and stains can be removed easily (like our AT contributor demonstrated in this review). This idea gave me so much peace of mind, even before I received the Jonathan Adler Pompidou rug. Visions of my boyfriend spilling protein powder or red wine on our brand-new rug no longer caused my heart to race.

After two years of owning this rug (and it surviving several spills), I recommend it to everyone. And right now, Ruggable is having a rare sitewide sale through July 7. If you use the code BDAY24, you can get 20% off on rugs, which makes Ruggable a bit more affordable.

What Is the Ruggable x Jonathan Adler Pompidou Rug?

Designer Jonathan Adler, who is known for his modern style and use of bright colors and patterns, has launched several collections with Ruggable. I opted for the 5’ x 7’ Pompidou Rug in slate blue, though it also comes in jade. I have a one-bedroom, and the room that is not the bedroom encompasses the kitchen, the living room, and the office my boyfriend and I use. I chose the flat-woven standard area rug, because I knew that we’d be walking over this rug a lot, and I want it to last for at least the next few years. It’s the thinnest version of Ruggable that you can get, but it suits my purposes best.

Why I Love the Ruggable x Jonathan Adler Pompidou Rug

In the past two years or so, I’ve really started to hone in on what I want my home aesthetic to be — mid-century modern with a dash of traditional and eclectic. Before getting this rug, I didn’t have any big splash of color or a designer piece, and this is both. This rug gets so many compliments from my friends and visitors, because it visually separates my living room/lounge area from the kitchen and office. The Pompidou rug creates a cozy, home-y vibe where the rest of my home doesn’t really have one yet (goodness, getting my space to look how I want it to look is taking a very long time).

I also love that there are so many different designer collaborations available on Ruggable, so you can really get the look that you want. My best friend bought a Ruggable for her baby’s room, because she knew it could undertake the wear and tear of a toddler. There’s something for everyone!

Although Ruggable can be a bit expensive, I think the best time to buy one is when they’re having a sale. Ruggable’s birthday sale only goes through July 7, so take advantage of the 20% discount while you can.
