Samsung is partnering up with outerwear brand Patagonia to develop a new washing machine that will help to combat microplastic waste that results from textiles and laundry. In a bid to help consumers live more eco-conscious lives, Samsung says that the Patagonia collaboration is the latest in a long line of steps Samsung is taking to create long-lasting appliances that improve environmental sustainability.

As with all of Samsung’s washing machines, the new appliance will use the unique Ecobubble feature which, by generating a greater amount of bubbles, gives a highly effective wash, even at the lowest temperature. This process helps the detergent quickly penetrate fabrics and remove dirt, all while saving energy and protecting the color and texture of the clothing.

Additionally, Samsung’s AI Wash feature cuts down water waste and energy use through the use of sensors that cleverly measure the weight of the load and the level of soiling.

While there’s no set date for the release, the Samsung and Patagonia collaboration joins a whole host of new innovative Samsung home appliances.

The brand will be expanding its coveting appliance lineup for 2022, including the first Bespoke French Door Refrigerator, Bespoke Family Hub, Bespoke kitchen package, and Bespoke Jet vacuum cleaner.

With 210W of suction power and a multi-layered filtration system, it offers a simple yet powerful cleaning experience and comes in three trendy colorways—Midnight Blue, Misty White, and Woody Green.

Samsung’s Bespoke French Door refrigerator will be available in 3-door and 4-door configurations in both full and counter-depth models and offers a plethora of fun color combinations to suit any style and aesthetic. In glass, new colors will include White, Gray, Pink, Charcoal, Morning Blue, Clementine, and Sunrise Yellow, while Tuscan, Matte Black, Navy, Emerald Green, and Stainless Steel will be available in a steel finish.
