If there’s one motif set to define 2024 interior design trends, it’s scallops. As part of Apartment Therapy’s annual State of Home Design survey, 59% of the designers polled predicted that this wavy silhouette would be everywhere this year, and it’s already started to dominate home decor in the form of scalloped-trim rugs, lamp shades, bedding, and beyond.

Now, I’m also noticing new scalloped furniture cropping up among home retailers and DIY projects alike — and it’s easy to see why. Overall, this trend offers a more refined, sophisticated, and somewhat coastal-inspired approach to the soft, fluid pieces that have been all the rage since 2020. Plus, since the undulated scallop shape is typically confined to just edging or a border, you can lean into the popular curved look on a more low-stakes level. Scalloped sizing and proportions vary, too — some pieces may have small-scale half-moon patterns, whereas others might be decked out in more defined, dramatic trims.

Either way, this here-to-stay aesthetic is leaving its mark on all kinds of furniture designs, from scalloped-edge sofas to side tables. Below, I rounded up a few of my favorite (small-space-friendly!) pieces of scalloped furniture you can buy right now from Urban Outfitters, Amazon, and more — starting at $120.

Pierce Wicker Side Table
$119

I have this rattan side table in my living room, which makes the space feel instantly beachy and boho thanks to the pretty skirted, scalloped base. It's small enough to tuck in a tight corner between my couch and window, but the tabletop still fits a lamp and coffee table book.

Camden Coffee Table
$299

This chic coffee table from Cura Home combines two trends into one: scalloped edging and a faux burl wood finish. You can’t beat the under-$300 price of this versatile piece, too, especially since the neutral coloring styles well with just about any living room setup.

Modway Athena Performance Velvet Headboard
$179

Bring the scalloped trend into your bedroom with this velvet Amazon headboard, available in three sizes and eight colors. It’s height adjustable with multiple mounting positions for easy installation, too (no new bed frame needed!).

Oeuf Moss Nightstand
$325

For a pop of color, I love this fiery-red scalloped nightstand from Brooklyn-based children’s lifestyle brand Oeuf. The bright hue and playful drawer will instantly perk up your bedside, although it also doubles as a storage accent piece in just about any room.

Roma Sofa
$1,299

Urban Outfitters’ Roma Sofa features a soft, wavy trim along the bottom wooden frame. It’s a subtle touch that doesn’t overpower the compact armless design, yet still feels modern and unique compared to most traditional two-seaters. You can even take a cue from designer Hollie Velten-Lattrell’s 2023 Small/Cool space and DIY a sofa skirt to drape on top if you ever (somehow) get sick of the scallops and want to re-style them.

FUNKOCO Writing Desk with Detachable Hutch
$120

A dainty detachable hutch sets this grey five-drawer scalloped desk apart from the rest. Whether you’re leveling up your home office or vanity, this touts plenty of space for papers, supplies, books, and beauty products (or all of the above).

Penny Bookcase
$499

Don’t skip the children’s section — Pottery Barn Kids carries a full line of matching white scalloped pieces, from a desk to a nightstand. They’re all equally charming (yet totally grown-up-worthy), especially the three-tier bookcase. It’s just 47 inches high by 31 inches wide, which opens up plenty of storage space within a fairly compact footprint. You can easily stack bins and more books on top, too.

June Console
$1,299

This console from Schoolhouse is definitely a bit of a splurge, but I love the minimalist Shaker-inspired wood design. It comes in black and maple finishes, and the latter is easily paintable if you want to brighten up your living room or entryway. There’s plenty of styling potential on the tabletop and bottom shelf, too, while the drawers are perfect for hiding remotes, takeout menus, and more.

DWOYFO 59” Modern Chenille Loveseat Sofa
$210$190

Small space dwellers, check out this under-$200 scalloped loveseat from Amazon. It may be compact at just 59 inches wide, but the delicate scalloped backing packs a big decorative punch — even styled as a foot-of-the-bed "bench" if it fits in your bedroom.

Ripple Nightstand
$998

Another investment piece, this fun rippled nightstand is part of designer Sarah Sherman Samuel's collaboration with Lulu and Georgia. Whereas most scalloped trims typically juxtapose hard-edged furniture, this round silhouette breaks from the norm and plays up the wavy trim even more. Its low profile and curved drawers skew fresh and modern, too, while the wood finish feels classic.
