Shamrock Plants Are Back at Trader Joe’s, Just In Time For St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner, and Trader Joe’s is going all in for the celebrations. The grocery store brought back its annual Shamrock plants to celebrate the season, and you can pick one up for just $5 next time you’re in the store.
“St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and Shamrock’s are in !!!!” Michelle from the @traderjoes_fanatic Instagram account wrote in the caption of a March 7 post.
Each pot is lush with clover-shaped leaves, and, as Shannon from @traderjoesobsessed found at her local Trader Joe’s, some stores are even carrying the purple variety.
Shamrock plants also bloom around this time of year, so depending on your plant, you may see small white or pink flowers peeking out from the leaves. These leaves also fold up at night, so if your plant looks wilted in the morning, you may just need to wait for it to wake up with the sunshine!
To care for your new Shamrock plant, place the plant in a spot that gets an ample amount of indirect sunlight. Because the plant grows from tiny bulbs, you can actually plant Shamrocks outside in the spring or fall depending on your location, but make sure you note that Shamrocks’ dormant season is summer. So although the plant may look like it’s not thriving, it’s actually just doing it’s thing and will perk back up during its growing season.
If you choose to keep your Shamrock potted inside, then make sure its soil remains moist (though not soaking) and allow it to dry out between waterings.
With your new Shamrock plant added to your houseplant collection, this year’s St. Patrick’s Day will be one of the best ones yet!
