Designer Shea McGee will share her extensive design repertoire with the masses in a new online course. The Studio McGee founder and “Dream Home Makeover” star has partnered with Airbnb for “Designed to Host,” a 60-minute online experience that will teach (virtual) guests how to create thoughtful spaces that encourage community and connection. With a slow but steady return to a life that somewhat emulates pre-pandemic existence, safe reunions with loved ones are no doubt on the horizon. McGee will thus guide guests through her process of creating spaces “where everyone feels at home, no matter how far they’ve traveled,” per the event’s description.

Guests can now book a spot for “Designed to Host,” set to take place on Wednesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. PST. The event costs $100 a person to join and become a part of the streaming and recording. For those who would just like to observe, a livestream will also be available at youtube.com/airbnb at the respective date and time at no cost. For those interested in joining the discussion, however, 100 percent of proceeds from “Designed to Host” will benefit the IIDA Foundation, a philanthropic organization that works to drive innovation and advancements in the commercial interior design field.

“I believe that a home should be both beautiful and functional, not just for you, but for those who come and go as well,” McGee said of the event in Airbnb’s media release. “I’ve learned a lot over the years about how to use design to your advantage in creating comfortable, memorable spaces that reflect your personal style, and I’d love to share my tips.”

The designer added on Airbnb, “Whether you’re an Airbnb Host looking to create a five-star space for guests, or simply hoping to freshen up your approach to hosting friends, you’re sure to walk away with a refreshed perspective on how to use everyday elements to set the stage for memorable spaces.”

Tune into “Designed to Host” on Wednesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. PST.
