I’ve always been a hot sleeper, but especially since I moved to New York City, the land of no central AC. Cursed with window units and poorly ventilated apartments, I found myself waking up covered in sweat on summer mornings. I had essentially resigned myself to this fate of taking morning before-work showers until I started working at Apartment Therapy.

Admittedly, I didn’t know much about how having good bedding can really optimize your sleep. (In addition to being a hot sleeper, I am a fussy tosser-and-turner who struggles to doze off.) Over the past year, I have slowly been upgrading my comforter, pillows, and bed blankets. I began testing multiple sheet sets for various Best Lists to see if I could find my Goldilocks pair, but it’s taken longer than I anticipated. After a year, I can happily report that I have finally found them — and they’re on sale.

My colleagues had raved about Sijo’s cooling bedding, so I jumped at the chance to test the brand’s AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set for an upcoming Best List.

I was immediately won over by the site’s description (though still skeptical). The sheets promised to be both soft, cooling, and lightweight — a hat trick that I thought would be difficult if not impossible to pull off. Plus, the sheets come in so many chic colors. I opted for the Forest Green, which looked so lush and inviting.

Sijo’s AiryWeight sheets are made out of TENCEL lyocell eucalyptus, which boasts both moisture-wicking and cooling properties. When I put the sheets on my bed, I fell head over heels in love with how the Forest Green sheets turned my bedroom into a garden paradise. The sheets were also so soft that they felt like silk but in the best way possible. I’ve always avoided silk sheets because I was worried about slipping around on them, but these Sijo sheets strike the balance between luxurious and soft.

An unseasonable hot week last month allowed me to put the set’s cooling properties to the test. I immediately noticed that these sheets were as lightweight as they boasted. I like having a layer over me while I sleep, and these sheets felt like they were barely there. And when I woke up, I was totally sweat-free. The pillowcase had even kept my head and the back of my neck dry overnight. TLDR — these are my holy grail sheets and they are only coming off my bed for washing this summer.

Right now, you can get Sijo’s Eucalyptus Sheets on rare sale. This sheet set, when you include the flat sheet, can be as expensive as $185, but you can save on them for a limited time. If you’re a sweaty sleeper like me, they’re worth every penny.
