This Decor-Inspired Air Purifier Is Designed for Small Spaces (You’ll Want One in Every Room!)
One home device I recommend to everyone is an air purifier. They help to keep the air in your home clean, which means less dusting, less allergens, and less lingering odors overall. Although air purifiers serve an important purpose, it doesn’t mean that they can’t blend into your home decor. In fact, some of my favorite air purifiers (and I’ve tested over a dozen!) are both stylish and functional, especially those from Windmill, a company dedicated to aesthetically pleasing air care.
I’ve tried and reviewed the Windmill Air Purifier Max, and the editor-favorite brand just dropped a slimmer Windmill Air Purifier for small spaces that I was able to try out ahead of the big launch. The best part? It’s over $200 less than its larger predecessor without losing any of the quality that Windmill is known for.

Design Features That Stand Out
Chances are, the first thing you’ll notice about the Windmill Air Purifier is its striking color options. It comes in five different shades, including a bold Coral and calming Sage that will bring a pop of color to any room. It’s also half the size of the Windmill Air Purifier Max, making it a good fit for smaller spaces like studio apartments, small bedrooms and nurseries, home offices, and more.
Inside, the Windmill Air Purifier is equipped with a 3-in-1 True HEPA filter that’s made up of a prefilter, activated carbon filter, and a medical-grade H13 HEPA filter. Its laser-based sensor helps to provide precise real-time air-quality updates that you can keep up with directly on the device, thanks to a color-coded air-quality indicator, or in the Windmill app (where you’ll also find the child-lock function). The air purifier has four manual settings, Eco Mode, and a sleep mode that includes two sleep sounds (whisper and white noise) that are as low as 16 decibels.
How the Windmill Air Purifier Performed
The ease of the Windmill Air Purifier is a huge reason why I’d recommend it to air purifier first-timers and those who’ve been using air purifiers for years. It’s super quiet yet clearly reactive to shifts in the air, such as a lit candle or smoke from cooking. I also thought it was really cool how it’s possible to watch the quality of the air in my living room improve little by little as the number on the air-quality index gradually decreased to zero (the cleanest your indoor air can be).
I love the fluted design of this air purifier, and combined with the color options, it’s an elegant and playful approach to clean air that makes it a fun fit for kid and adult spaces. The setup is incredibly easy: Just open the box where you plan to place the purifier, plug it in, and turn it on. Connecting it to WiFi via app only takes a few minutes, too.
What I Loved
- Small Design, Big Style: The Windmill Air Purifier has a small footprint of 9.5×9.5-inches, so it easily and effectively fits in my living room, bedroom, or home office.
- Eco Mode: I love that I can have a hands-off approach to keeping my indoor air clean. On Eco Mode, the purifier automatically adjusts according to the quality of air in my space, and the color-coded indicator lets me know whether or not the air is in good condition.
- App Simplicity: Because I have the Windmill Fan and both Windmill air purifiers, I’m constantly using the app, and it’s effortless to switch between devices, change settings, control the fan or air purifiers remotely, and more.
Good to Know
Filters for Windmill air purifiers should be replaced every six months for optimal performance. If you order the Windmill Air Purifier with recurring filter refills, you’ll save $69 (essentially getting your first filter for free!), and you’ll also save $20 on filter replacements each month.
