These Designer Outdoor Pillows Are So Pretty, I’d Use Them Indoors

Although it’s probably starting to feel like fall on your Instagram and TikTok feeds — based on all of the pumpkins, sweaters, and cozy throw blankets you’re seeing — even the coolest parts of the country still have a little bit of outdoor entertaining season left. A special collaboration I just discovered could be just what you need to eke out a little extra outside time this September and October. It’s a line of the prettiest outdoor cushions from two designer-favorite textile and furniture brands: Soil to Studio and Cloth & Company. Here’s what you need to know about this partnership.

Launched just last month, the Soil to Studio Crafted by Cloth & Company collaboration brings two female-led design businesses together on a line of mix-and-match outdoor cushions. The pillows have an almost semi-custom vibe, as they’re available in a variety of patterns — 12, to be exact! — and three different sizes, both with and without inserts: 18 x 18, 22 x 22, and 22 x 15 lumbar. This collection marks the first time that Soil to Studio, known for its gorgeous botanical prints, has produced both an outdoor collection and a range that’s made in America, thanks to Cloth & Company’s factories here in the U.S. 

Although the collection is rated for outdoor use, the details really look and feel like the indoor textiles Soil to Studio’s founder, Swati Bansal, is known for. Most of the patterns are floral and have a beautiful, hand-drawn quality to them, while a few are striped. The whole line was inspired by Soil to Studio’s best-sellers, and the pieces are meant to be layered together on patios, porches, terraces, balconies, and sunrooms. 

These designs are digitally printed and feature contrast piping as trim, and some are even reversible for two looks in one. The fabrics are machine-washable for easy care and can, of course, be used in bedrooms, living rooms, and other indoor spaces, too. Colors run the gamut from very nature-inspired greens and mustards to bolder pops of pink, burgundy, and navy.
