Living in a small apartment means I’m constantly rethinking storage, and my nightstand’s purpose has evolved accordingly. What used to be home to socks and underwear is now a drop zone for all the random analog activities I like doing from the comfort of my bed: journals, puzzle books, at-home manicure supplies – you get the idea. I’ve tried organizing it, but as the drawer slides in and out, loose items shift out of place, and the whole drawer descends into madness. Until recently, it never occurred to me that the solution might be hiding in my kitchen, but I discovered these SpaceAid Bamboo Drawer Dividers that changed everything.

These organizers tame the chaos of my nightstand drawer and make it look tidier than it’s ever looked. And they do this without shifting out of place. I’m going to try putting these in every drawer in my apartment now. Here’s why I’m so hooked.

What are the SpaceAid Bamboo Drawer Dividers?

They’re spring-loaded organizers that keep anything from cutlery to clothing — and in my case, nightstand essentials — neat. Made of bamboo, they’re stylish and sturdy, and make any drawer look like it was touched by a pro organizer. They expand from 17 to 22 inches long, so they’ll fit most household drawers, and feature non-slip rubber backings to keep them securely in place (and prevent scuffs on your drawers). The best part, though, is the smart inserts that slot perpendicularly into the main dividers, allowing you to create a custom grid of smaller compartments.

The SpaceAid organizers come in a pack of four and include six 4.75-inch-wide inserts, three 7-inch-wide inserts, and label stickers.

Why They’re Perfect for My Messy Nightstand

Because I’m constantly moving things around in my apartment to maximize storage, I love how easily the dividers can be reconfigured to organize items of various sizes. For my nightstand, I used the 7-inch mini-dividers to create wider compartments that wrangle longer items like pens, pencils, and nail supplies. Then, I used the 4.75-inch mini-dividers for smaller items that are easy to lose, like my pencil sharpener and extra charging cables. I even skipped mini-dividers on one side so my journal and sketchbooks could be filed right at the front. I’m planning on putting the extra dividers in my kitchen and home office next. I’d just advise measuring the depth of your drawers first!

The dividers also haven’t budged an inch since I set them up several weeks ago. It’s all thanks to the spring-loaded tension system and the small grooves that hold the mini-dividers in place. This means I can open and close the drawer with reckless abandon, without worrying about things sliding across compartments. I also appreciate how sturdy they are compared to flimsy fabric drawer organizers. The rigid walls keep delineations clear and distinct, and they don’t accumulate dust in the same way a fabric organizer might; they just wipe clean.

Should You Buy the SpaceAid Bamboo Drawer Dividers?

I’ll be honest, the drawer’s former clutter used to stress me out (the last thing I want before bed), so if the state of your drawers is having a similar effect on you, I say these dividers are the best purchase you’ll make. Now I can’t help but feel a sense of calm every time I open the drawer and see all my neat little compartments. And as someone who isn’t naturally organized, the dividers inspire me to keep my drawers tidy rather than shoving items inside out of frustration.

Buy: SpaceAid Bamboo Drawer Dividers, $22 (normally $28)
