I Doubled My Closet Storage with This $25 Hanging Organizer
Living in a small New York apartment means my closet isn’t just for clothes; it’s also where I store bed linens, winter comforters, luggage, and anything else that I can’t find a place for. Try as I might to jigsaw everything into place, it always devolves into a mess that makes finding what I need an unnecessary challenge. I was using a hanging organizer I had from a previous apartment, but it just wasn’t cutting it. That’s why I upgraded to SpaceAid’s Hanging Closet Organizer.
It ended up doubling my closet storage. Everything is so much easier to find, so I don’t suffer from a mild panic every time I open it, like I used to. Clearly Amazon shoppers agree, because the organizer has a near-perfect five-star rating! If your closet is in dire need of an organizational reset, this is it.
What Is the SpaceAid Hanging Closet Organizer?
It’s a fabric organizer with large metal hooks that hang directly on your closet’s clothing rod — no complicated set-up here. Measuring 53 inches high and 13.5 inches wide, it takes advantage of the vertical space in your closet rather than crowding your clothing rod (just make sure you measure your closet first!). It’s packed with 12 compartments (in small, medium, and large sizes) that are reinforced with internal plastic shelves for extra stability. And it holds practically anything — from your shoe collection to bags, accessories, and household items — and makes it tidy and easy to reach.
The organizer comes in a pack of two, and is available in four other colors: beige, gray, pink, and white.
Why I’m Into It
The SpaceAid hanging organizer was the ultimate upgrade from the one I was using before. It literally has double the compartments, and while it’s a bit wider than my old one, it’s slim enough for smaller closets like mine and gives me about a foot of extra space underneath for added storage. I use it mostly for shoes, and the different-sized compartments ensure that all my pairs — chunky boots, high-heels, and ballet flats — fit perfectly without scrunching. I can grab a pair from it without the entire organizer wobbling and sending other shoes to the floor (it’s that stable!). Plus, the black colorway conveniently doesn’t show dirt that may be tracked in on the bottom of my shoes.
I frankly would’ve paid the regular $30 price for just one of these hanging organizers, so the fact that they come in a set of two feels like a steal. I put the other one in the tiny closet (aka “the garage”) in my home office, and it keeps all of our miscellaneous household items in check. Things like toilet paper, paper towels, clothing irons and steamers, tools, and cleaning supplies all have their own little cubbies. And it makes the small, normally stuffed-full closet surprisingly easy to manage. It’s so versatile!
