Allow This Foldable, Compact Desk to Alleviate Your WFH Woes
Big news for small space dwellers: Spacestor, a Los Angeles-based furniture store, has designed the ultimate work-from-home desk for small spaces. The store launched the KIT Desk Ply, $449, earlier this year, a foldable, compact desk that requires no assembly or tools to construct — and it’s super stylish, too. With a Californian mid-century design and in a versatile shade of oak with black steel legs, Spacestor’s desk will soothe all those WFH woes for folks without a home office. (Hello from my dining room table.)
The desk takes only about 30 seconds to unfold. Ideal for students learning remotely, too, the KIT Desk Ply even has built-in cut-out segments for a bag hook, pencil or cup holder, and a phone docker for hands-free video conferencing or smartphone Zoom calls. It even sort of evokes the nostalgic school tables found in classrooms. Nic Baxter, Spacestor’s managing director, said the KIT Desk was designed as a direct response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Over the past few months, we’ve undertaken a revolutionary global experiment in remote working and many people have been living with makeshift workstations all the while,” Baxter told Dezeen. “Our goal with KIT was to improve the work-from-home experience by helping remote workers shift from coping to actually choosing and creating a more productive environment for themselves.”
Baxter continued, “We’ve designed a solution that empowers the user to choose their preferred work setting at any given moment, whether it’s in a living room or on the terrace.”
Once the desk is no longer needed, simply fold it up and store it someplace out of sight and out mind — like in a closet, under the bed, and anywhere else with storage space. Small space solutions never looked so good. Shop: Spacestor KIT Desk Ply, $449.
