Marie Kondo’s New Netflix Show Will Tidy Your Whole Town
Marie Kondo has helped countless people declutter their homes with her books and Netflix show. But the organizing expert has set her sights on something bigger: tidying an entire town.
“Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo” is a new show coming to Netflix that follows Kondo and her team, who set out to tidy one small town in America, per Deadline. The casting call asks fans to nominate a place “that’s ready for a big change and a joyful transformation.” The makeover could include the mayor’s office, local restaurants and bars, a fire station, rec centers, community gardens, and schools or classrooms, per the website.
The casting site asks that nominators answer some questions (What is your town known for? What makes your town unique? What spaces in your town need tidying?) and submit a video. The producers are noting that everyone who wants to submit should adhere to social distancing, and that existing footage is okay to use. There is currently no premiere date information for the new show.
“Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” debuted on Netflix on January 1, 2019, and reignited many people’s desires to declutter their homes. Kondo has since launched an online shop, and has a book about tidying at work coming out in April 2020.
Deadline also notes that other reality series will be returning to Netflix in the future. “The Circle” and “Love Is Blind” each got renewed for two more seasons (both are currently casting, with “Love Is Blind” looking specifically in Chicago), and that hip hop competition show “Rythym and Flow” is renewed for season two.
