This Soft Pillow is 100% Perfect for Couch Naps (I Would Know)
I spend a lot of time (more time than I should probably admit) sitting on my couch — only I don’t sit on it with my back up against the back sofa cushions. I sit on it with my back against the arm so I can extend my legs (and perhaps easily transition into a nap from this position).
My little gray sofa actually used to be in my childhood home, and I always sat this way — to do my homework, to watch TV, and to do the crossword by the fireplace. Now, it’s in my apartment, and I still do the same, just with a little less homework.
The key to my way of sitting on the couch is a good pillow that you can lean against, and recently, when my favorite Rifle Paper Co. pillow was feeling a little worn and flat, I tested Sunday Citizen’s Two-Toned Ribbed Throw Pillow.
What I Love About Sunday Citizen’s Two-Toned Ribbed Throw Pillow
- It’s supersoft. The ribbed fabric is Sunday Citizen’s signature snug fabric, which kind of feels like a fuzzy sock in pillow form. If you’re a couch napper like me, it feels really soft and gentle against your face.
- It adds texture and pattern, but not too much. My living room already has a lot of color and pattern going on, and I’ve been on the search for something black and white that adds a teensy bit of texture and pattern but not too much.
- It has the perfect give. The inside is stuffed with memory foam. I sink into it just the right amount, but it keeps me upright and not slouching.
- It teeters on the line between black and navy. It’s a striped pillow, and the darker stripe is kind of a black-navy. My living room has both blue and black, so I like that it plays well with both.
Good to know:
- It’s supersoft, but the Snug fabric is kind of hot and sweaty for leaning against in the summertime. (Good thing it’s machine washable! Use cold water!)
- It’s a little short for leaning, too; it comes right to my shoulders when I’m sitting on the sofa, and I’m 5’2” with an extremely short torso. I kind of wish it came up behind my neck, and I think it might be better for a bed, actually.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons, especially because I’m sure I’ll love to snuggle up against this when it gets a little chillier. Oh and? There’s a matching blanket. I can already picture myself curling up on my couch, watching When Harry Met Sally, and drifting off into a hot cocoa-induced nap.
In the meantime, back to my ice-cold lemonade and blasting AC.
