A Sunny Seattle Home Has an Enviable Pink Sofa and Over 60 Plant Babies

Location: Queen Anne — Seattle, Washington
Type of home: House

Years lived in: 2 years, owned
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: We got married in our home seven months after we first met. We have learned that even couples that hit it off quibble over home decorating. Ed used to own nothing but wood; all wood furniture and a huge sectional gray couch. I used to call him: “50 shades of brown.” I, on the other hand, love colors. You can see color in both my previous home tours: Suki’s Gem On The Hill and A Bubbly and Modern Seattle Condo.
Over the last two years, we have learned to appreciate each other’s styles. We first had to evaluate the things each person loves and make them work together without looking off balance. We really edited all our belongings down and only kept must-have treasures. And then shopping for new items! It took forever to find pieces that meet both of our tastes. We have come a long way.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Thoughtfully edited and timeless with a dash of whimsy.
What is your favorite room and why? Our living room. It gets most sun; hence, tons of plant babies. Plants are keeping me sane and busy during this trying times.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? PINK COUCH! I love pink and Ed WOOD. I am so thankful he is open-minded. We both love the couch. It almost feels like a single bed.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t be rigid; be open-minded to what you don’t know.
