These Custom Mini LEGO Sets Are Super Sweet (I’m Getting One for All My Friends!)
Valentine’s Day is almost here, but the true essence of the holiday — showing some extra love to your partner, friends, family, and most importantly, yourself — should still be the assignment long after February is over. I’ve been recently leaning into this vibe by planning budget-friendly activities like a Galentine’s homemade pizza night and an at-home spa date with my boyfriend, so I was so excited when I stumbled upon a TikTok showcasing a cute interactive gift — a custom, LEGO-esque present also doubles as an activity for date night, a best friend hangout, or even a solo evening in.
To get a custom brick set, you send in a photo of you, your family or your pet to the brand, called Love Bricks. A quick Google search told me there are many other brands that exist that sell this product — like My Custom Brick Figures and MineBrick — but even more digging led me to an adorable small business on Etsy that uses LEGO products to build LEGO brick portraits of you and your loved ones.
I immediately checked out the “small family run business,” The Brick Bin. Apparently, they assemble all their “photo blocks by hand.” You can buy a portrait option — the company will take your photo and print it across Lego bricks — or you can buy personalized mini LEGO sets of you, your pets, and more by picking out hair colors, accessories, and outfits on LEGO blocks. You can also buy combination products (a photo and customized miniature figures). All these options start at about $20 and run up to about $75, depending on what size you want.
To create your own, all you have to do is upload your photo to the website, order the product, select your customization options, and you’re off to the races. Once you’ve got your compact mini-me or your preferred design, you can display it anywhere like your work-from-home work space, your desk at work, your nightstand, or anywhere else you’d typically display a photo of you and your loved ones.
Unfortunately, you won’t get your customized LEGO dupe or LEGO products in time for Valentine’s Day if you order them now, but you can make receiving the gift part of a fun date night or solo activity night once it arrives.
