My Sheets Smell So Dreamy Thanks to This Luxe Find (It Changed My Routine!)
My appreciation for home fragrance is well-documented. Whether I’m trying a high-tech diffuser or the latest quirky candle scent, I want my apartment to smell good. So it’s not all that surprising that my scent fixation also extends to my bed linens and clothing — because there’s nothing better than snuggling up in softly scented sheets or slipping on a fresh-smelling set of pajamas. Enter: The Laundress’ Beauty Sleep Laundry Detergent and Fabric Spray Set.
The New York-based company makes some of our favorite fancy laundry detergents and accessories (like the mist I use to de-wrinkle my clothes!). The Beauty Sleep set, however, is designed specifically for bedding and sleepwear, and lightly scented to support a sense of calm at bedtime. But does it actually work? I put it to the test to find out.
What Is the Beauty Sleep Laundry Detergent & Fabric Spray Set?
It’s a two-piece set that includes a 16-ounce bottle of The Laundress’ Beauty Sleep detergent (which can wash up to 15 loads of laundry) and an 8-ounce spray bottle of the brand’s Beauty Sleep fabric spray. Both have the same delectable blend of sandalwood, amber, and musk, along with jasmine, lavender, and bergamot fragrance notes, for a scent that’s absolutely dreamy and meant to enhance your bedtime ritual.
In addition to the perfumer-made scent it leaves behind, the Beauty Sleep detergent uses The Laundress’ special enzyme blend to effectively clean fabrics and lift off stains. The Fabric Spray, on the other hand, is a gentle wrinkle-releaser and calming pillow mist in one, so it’s great for use on crinkly linen bedding and pajamas.
Why I Love the Beauty Sleep Laundry Detergent & Fabric Spray Set
From the moment I sniffed the Beauty Sleep detergent, I was hooked — it smells like a luxury perfume! I honestly liked it more than a few of the actual perfumes on my shelf. I use it on my bedding and my clothes, and can say that the scent lingers on both after drying, without being heady or overpowering. My husband noticed it on our sheets straightaway, saying, “It smells like a fancy spa.” He’s quite sensitive to fragrance, but he hasn’t had any issues with this! The same goes for our clothes: The scent is soft and detectable, but doesn’t compete with my everyday perfume.
Fragrance aside, the Beauty Sleep laundry detergent does a great job at cleaning my clothes and bedsheets, and combats stains without leaving any soapy residue behind. Due to the concentrated formula, the brand recommends using one fluid ounce for medium loads and two fluid ounces for larger ones. My gripe is that the flip-cap bottle makes dosing the proper amount a challenge. The Laundress sells a detergent measuring cup, but I ended up repurposing an old one I had from a previous detergent bottle.
The Beauty Sleep fabric spray is a fixture on my nightstand now. I’ve grown accustomed to lightly misting my sheets after washing, and I spray the top of my duvet and pillows after making my bed in the morning. The spray’s wrinkle-smoothing properties come in handy, too — especially after I’ve tumble-dried my bedding on laundry day. It doesn’t result in a totally creaseless look like ironing or steaming would, but it helps (and smells good in the process!).
I can’t say whether the set truly enhances the quality of my sleep or not, but I can say that its soothing scent makes bedtime more special. It also brings a degree of fanciness to the not-so-glamorous chore of doing laundry.
