I cover must-have home products, sales, and brand launches. Prior to working at ATM, I earned my degree in Culture Writing and Criticism from NYU, and I interned at publications like CNN Underscored, TV Insider, Texas Monthly (I'm a Dallas native), and more. When I'm not writing, I'm usually at the movies or browsing in a thrift store.

Over the years, I’ve alternated between decor styles. At first, it was boho, then my next space took on a slightly more modern look. Since I moved into my current apartment, however, I’ve started collecting vintage pieces, and I’ve fallen in love with the style so much that I think it’s here to stay. Some items are true antiques that I’ve found in secondhand stores and Facebook Marketplace; others are only vintage-inspired, offering the vibe that I’m after with none of the drawbacks that sometimes come with secondhand decor. (In other words, it doesn’t require thorough cleaning.)

Considering my style of choice, it’s no surprise that I instantly became enamored with Anthropologie’s latest collection, which was made in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art and takes influence from the 1870s. In fact, I already splurged on the stunning (and currently sold-out) picture frame. Out of the 44 pieces that were a part of the original launch a few months ago, only three items are left. Among them is the Floral Velvet Pillow, which will add a vintage elegance to any chair, sofa, or bed. What’s more, it’s included in Anthropologie’s 40%-off clearance sale, so it’s bound to sell out soon.

What Is the The Met x Anthropologie Floral Velvet Pillow?

Like the other products from the collection, this glamorous pillow takes its design from the Gilded Age in the late 19th century — which might ring a bell if you remember the theme of the 2022’s Met Gala or have visited the museum’s American Wing in New York City. The Art Nouveau patterns are organic and swirling, and the golden details give them an air of opulence.

Needless to say, both versions of this velvet throw pillow look way more expensive than they are — especially while they’re over half off. The 18×18-inch version is light-colored, with a light blue background that’s bordering on white. Printed on top is a shiny gold floral design that’ll stand out wherever you place it, rounded out by matching tassels on each corner. The 20×20-inch option is similar, though it comes in a rich dark blue and has a more matte detailing. Either option will steal the show and make your seating even more comfortable to lounge on.
