Home is a global concept. It doesn’t really matter what corner of the world you live in: home, ideally, is the place you sleep at night, where your loved ones are, or where you feel most safe. In a time when not everyone has a permanent place to call home, we look for ways to feel grateful for the places we may call home, while also remembering those who don’t (and to look for ways to agitate and help).

For the month of August, we’re exploring what home looks like around the world. This stunning planet is filled with a diverse array of architectural types, from houseboats in Amsterdam to riads in Morocco, to beach shacks in Australia, to villas in Italy and, these days, tiny houses, RVS, vans, and mobiles homes everywhere in between.

Every day this month, we’ll be sharing a house tour from someplace around our globe—mostly new tours we’ve never published before, plus a few past favorites worth revisiting. For day one, we have a Melbourne, Australia, home that’s bursting to life with color. We’ve worked hard to represent homes from as many places as possible, but the world is large (and 31 days go quickly). As we’ve been editing the collection, we’ve noticed what feels different in each place—and what feels universal. We hope you’ll enjoy the journey as much as we have.

We need your help to showcase even more beautiful and diverse homes. We want to see where you live, whether it’s in Alabama or Antarctica. If you’d like to share your home with us for possible publication, fill out this submission form, or share this post with a friend who should submit.

Sincerely,
Adrienne Breaux, House Tour Editor
