Name & Location: Nicolas in Florida
My Favorite Room: Bedroom
Specs: 100 Square Feet

What did your bedroom look like when you were 16 years old? If you were anything like me, it had walls covered in posters, a floor covered in piles of clothes and a mix of furniture from when I was a kid. To say this teenager’s room impresses me is an understatement!

From Nicolas:

I gained an interest in vintage Mid-Century furniture about two years ago when I was around 14 or 15 years old. Now I’m halfway through sixteen, and my collection has grown considerably.

I still live in my parents’ home and I try to keep my collection in the bounds of my bedroom, which is about 100 square feet.

In it, I sleep in a loft bed. It has what I call the “living area” underneath with a sofa that I got at IKEA, a pair of tables from Design Within Reach, and an Eames chair. In front of the bed there is a wall-mounted cabinet from IKEA to hide my art supplies and miscellaneous junk. To the left is my window, at which there is a small seat. I have a vintage Eames table there (flea market find!) with a vintage Bertoia chair. I do my homework and art projects here. Behind this is my storage solution, which is two IKEA Kallax cabinets mounted onto the wall to increase floor space and give a sense of height.

I hope to have a bigger space in the future to be able to continue collecting, but for now this suits me perfectly. I try to fit as much as I can in here while still keeping the space tidy and collected, and I love it!

Thanks, Nicolas!
