If you spend your free time cruising the interwebs, then chances are you’ve discovered the now-viral TikTok series from a New York woman who discovered a passageway to a secret apartment behind her bathroom mirror on Wednesday.

In a four-part TikTok series titled “A New York City Mystery” that’s both eerie and hilarious, Samantha Hartsoe describes her journey as she walks into her bathroom, which is unusually cold.  With ominous music playing in the background, Hartsoe wonders why cold air is blowing from strange places like the door jam and behind a light switch. Soon, she realizes the cold air is most strongly coming from behind her bathroom mirror.

“Then I realize the mirror moves,” Hartsoe tells the camera. “Let me show you what I found in my New York City bathroom.”

In the moment of truth, Hartsoe removes the mirror from the wall to reveal a huge, square-sized hole that was previously covered up by a mirror.

“It was just the electrical!” her friend says, to which Hartsoe replies “oh no no no… THERE’S A ROOM BACK THERE!”

Hartsoe and her two friends gaze into the room behind the mirror, amazed at what they found. But she didn’t stop there: “I need more answers,” she tells the camera. “I have to go in and find out what’s on the other side of my bathroom. What if someone’s living in there?”

Donning a double mask and a flashlight strapped to her head, Hartsoe resolves to make her way through the hole, climbing atop the sink and managing to wedge her body backward through the passageway.

“You’re on the other side of the dimension!” her friend jokes from THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL. “Go onward!”

Armed with a hammer for protection from anyone who might be inside/evil spirits, Hartsoe discovered an entirely separate apartment on the other side of the wall. While it looks abandoned with random stuff scattered around, like a toilet in the middle of a room and several trash bags, Hartsoe did find some signs of life on the other side, like a half-drunk bottle of water.

“Wow, this is a whole other apartment,” she says, ensuring to lock the door to the secret apartment so nobody can just crawl through the hole into her bathroom.

Soon, she returns to civilization on the other side of the wall.

“Made it out alive,” Hartsoe says at the end. As she puts the mirror back on the wall, she says “My landlord is getting a really fun call tomorrow!”

Naturally, the internet discovered Hartsoe’s videos and went wild over it, with several people comparing it to classic horror flick “Candyman“.

While it looks like Hartsoe made it out safely, we’re guessing her landlord will be on the receiving end of some interesting phone calls today. Apartment Therapy reached out to Hartsoe for comment, but we’re not sure if our messages reach another dimension.
