A hashtag on TikTok infuses plant parent shenanigans with a viral meme that’s all about living your best life. The #PlantGirlSh*t hashtag, a play on the “Hot Girl Sh*t” meme, offers houseplant tips and other botanical memes with the ultimate Megan Thee Stallion twist. If you aren’t busy doing hot girl sh*t right now, continue reading for more on the hashtag.

A primer for the TikTok deficient: The “Hot Girl Sh*t” meme borrows audio from Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 track, “Girls in the Hood.” TikTokers borrow the words, “I can’t talk right now, I’m doing hot girl sh*t” in the videos, and it cuts to them engaging in activities that pertain to living their best lives, such as eating pizza with one pinky up or browsing expensive, out-of-reach Zillow listings.

The viral trend has since extended to include even more funny moments of little consequence, such as cleaning a retainer or taking the 23rd nap of the day. Still, these play into that unbothered ethos of self care. An inclusive meme despite its “Hot Girl” moniker, it’s all about the universality of living one’s best life.

Plant parents have since capitalized on the meme with the declaration,“I can’t talk right now, I’m doing plant girl sh*t.” One particular plant girl sh*t clip then cuts to a DIY plant tutorial on how to wrap houseplants around wire to form a round, potted appearance, as well as a tutorial on how to create a tiny geometric hanging planter for your home.

Another #PlantGirlSh*t TikTok video cuts to a tranquil clip of moss poles being delicately watered via spray bottle, with a reminder to nurture them to encourage root growth. Another TikTok user leaned into the meme with a tranquil clip of plant maintenance day, filming soothing snippets of their houseplants being watered. Browse the delightful #PlantGirlSh*t hashtag for more tutorials and memes. I cannot document them all right now, I’m doing plant girl sh*t.
