See How This Vintage “Deal of the Century” Find Creates Stylish Wine Storage (Instantly!)
Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just a collector of beautiful glass bottles, finding a way to store all of them while still keeping your home looking stylish can be a challenge, to say the least. But according to TikTok, you don’t need to splurge on a wine fridge or another expensive alternative wine rack to keep things in order and clutter-free. Instead, an antique card catalog cabinet might be just what you need.
It makes sense, and it’s such a clever, ingenious alternative to just stashing your bottles wherever you might have room. With a vintage card catalog cabinet, which were previously used to hold library cards, the end result is a curated, high-end look for much less.
Because card catalogs typically feature several drawers deep and slim enough to store wine bottles, you can easily keep your bottles dark and dry until you’re ready to use them again.
The video came from TikTok user @michelle_rspvintage, who recently demonstrated this wine storage hack in a May 9 video, explaining that she’d been inspired to try it after seeing several other similar setups on Pinterest.
After finding her dream card catalog drawer at Brimfield Flea Market, Michelle managed to negotiate the price down to $175 from its original list price of $400. Although she admits that stripping and refinishing the wood as a DIYer was “a pain in the ass, as refinishing furniture tends to be,” the result is a stunning table that holds her wine bottles and serves as a great surface for placing decor like plants, candles, and books.
“She is gorgeousssss 😍,” one TikToker commented. “And such a good idea!”
“I love this idea!!” another commenter wrote. “I have a vintage bar set that would look so cute on something like this 😩!”
Several more commenters chimed in, calling the DIY “brilliant,” “beautiful,” and “amazing,” and Michelle shared that because the card catalog holds 15 bottles, it’s extremely manageable. The deep walnut is one of the “it” stains of 2024 and looks beautiful when used here.
No matter where you ultimately decide to store your wine, keep your bottles away from sunlight and heat sources to make sure that its aromas and flavors stay intact for as long as possible.
