If an excursion to Denmark isn’t on your travel bucket list, we’ve discovered a reason to make that vacay a priority. The Løvtag Treetop Hotel is situated in a forest on the Als Odde peninsula and near the Mariager Fjord, making it peace-filled, nature lover’s ideal retreat.

Created by Rasmus Lybæk and designed by architect Sigurd Larsen, the Løvtag cabins (Danish for canopy) embodies Nordic minimalism by making most of the space. The tree-bound cabin sits hillside on a spot known as The Dwarf’s Mound. It hovers 26 feet above the ground, thanks to a set of metal beams that serve as structural support. Guests can access the cabin by a wooden bridge.  The interior of the 334-square-foot space bears a modern style highlights by elements of the hygge lifestyle that promotes comfort and relaxation.

The cozy quarters contain a living area, a kitchenette, a bathroom connected to an outdoor shower plus a large room with a sleeping area that contains a double bed and a double sofa bed. The cabin accommodates up to four people. Guests have the option of taking in the sights via large windows facing south and west, or they can get an even better view of the surrounding forest from the rooftop terrace, which is accessible by a staircase. Despite its nature-friendly setting, the cabins are equipped with modern conveniences like indoor plumbing, water and electricity.

Keeping in line with the environmentally conscious construction process, the builders left the surrounding trees untouched; in fact, builders erected the inaugural cabin around a pine tree, and there are plans to make an oak and a beech tree the natural centerpieces for the next two cabins.

While one cabin is currently open at the Als Odde site, the location is set to house a total of nine cabins. Check out the Løvtag site for availability and rates.
