These Are the Top Cities for Renters in 2023, According to a New Report
To say that the housing market has been a roller coaster ride over the past three years is an understatement, with rentals serving as a solid way to plant roots for a while until things settle down. If your lease is up soon or if you’re just looking for a change of scenery near the start of the new year, one report is detailing the best cities for finding new apartments in 2023 — and you might be surprised by the top choice.
The housing pros at RentCafe analyzed stats in 180 cities to uncover the cream of the crop when it comes to available rentals, honing in on spacious pads with lots of amenities in desirable locations. Overall, states within the Sun Belt (along the southeast to southwest U.S.) seem to have the most number of new builds, with Boca Raton, Florida taking top honors for the biggest increase in new apartments at an average size of more than 1,000 square feet.
Texas also dominates the list, with 12 cities in the Lone Star State appearing among the rankings. In fact, Texas cities dominate the rest of the top five — in order, there’s Midland, Humble, Frisco, and McKinney.
Of course, a sun-drenched lifestyle in Boca Raton has obvious appeal, especially thanks to highly rated public schools, attractions and amenities for tourists and locals alike, and seemingly endless miles of gorgeous sandy beaches and plentiful days to enjoy it all.
All four Texas locations are within close distance to their respective cities (Dallas, El Paso, and Houston), offering up easy metropolitan access with a little more wiggle room. Ample job opportunities, a wide variety of attractions, and other features make each city a great place to score a rental whether you’re looking to put down roots or simply spend a few months or years in a new place.
