Trader Joe’s New Christmas Gnome Planters Come with Grump Trees

You have the Grump Tree, and you scored your poinsettias and amaryllis, so what else could you possibly need from the Trader Joe’s plant section to make your home holiday-ready, you wonder? Two words: gnome planters.

Gnomes have been around forever, but they’ve been making a comeback in the past few years when it comes to Christmas decor. And Trader Joe’s has hopped on the gnome train with its Holiday Gnome Planter. These guys are white ceramic gnomes with bright red hats standing next to a potted lemon cypress plant — the same plant as your Grump Tree.

According to the Trader Joe’s fan Instagram accounts who’ve spotted these cuties, the gnome planters are only retailing for around $6.

Lemon cypress trees love sunlight, so you can put this gnome in the sunniest spot in your house — somewhere where your plant can get at least six to eight hours of direct sunlight per day. And these plants are great for people who forget to water. They only need watering when the top few inches of soil are completely dry.

And when you rub the foliage of the lemon cypress between your fingers, you’ll notice a fresh lemon scent (hence the name!).
