Run, Don’t Walk: Trader Joe’s is Selling Monstera Plants for Under $15
Spring has officially sprung, and Trader Joe’s is celebrating with an entirely new selection of springtime plants. Mums, hyacinths, poppy growing kits, Easter-themed planters — all being sold for wildly-low prices. And some people are even finding mini monstera plants at their local Trader Joe’s for next-to-nothing prices, so it’s time to get your green thumb out and start hunting the white whale of TJ’s greenery.
Earlier this month, Instagram user @PlantActually posted a photo of their Trader Joe’s monstera plant that had grown massively since they purchased it a few months prior. “I still can’t believe I snagged this Monstera from Trader Joe’s a couple [of] months ago,” they captioned the post. “How perfect is it?!?!”
And at the end of February, Instagram user @PlantLady.PNW wrote, “When @traderjoes has baby monsteras for $4.99 in a cut pot, you buy them and regret not buying the others.” They continued, “I can’t wait to watch this baby grow. Any tips on how to successfully grow a Monstera?”
@PlantLady.PNW wrote in a comment on their post, “I might have to go back and see if there are more. They’re just so cute and make cute little gifts for any plant newbie!”
In May of 2020, @TraderJoesPlants found “Jumbo Mini” monstera plants at their local Trader Joe’s in Los Angeles for just $12.99 (and these are way bigger than your standard starter plants).
But with monstera sightings as recent as February, there’s a chance for you to snag your very own. Trader Joe’s monsteras are out there, and will likely become less rare in the coming spring months ahead (fingers crossed, anyway). Keep your eyes peeled and be patient, and you could just land your very own under-$10 swiss cheese plant.
