Peek Inside This Gorgeous Treehouse For Adults
When it comes to elevated dwellings, tree houses will always be in style. The universal adoration for these nature-friendly living spaces is undeniable, and designer Antony Gibbon has once again tapped into that appeal with the creation of Inhabit, a sleek treehouse located near the town of Woodstock, New York.
Situated on a tract of forest land, Gibbon’s design was inspired by geometric forms. The structure is made from locally sourced cedar which wraps around a steel frame and helps the home blend in with the natural setting. A set of angled metal beams prop it up above the ground, making it appear as though the home is floating.
“The owner was open to the direction and wanted me to replicate the conceptual design as much as possible, which was tying the building into the surrounding forest as much as possible,” Gibbon told Dezeen.
The home features an open-plan living area and large windows that allow natural light to penetrate the space while providing unobstructed views of the surrounding wooded area, which includes the nearby lake and Catskills Mountains. In the kitchen, a wood-burning stove and a wooden island with concrete counter and surrounding balconies enhance the overall natural aesthetic. Down the hall from the kitchen are a bedroom, a shower room and a bathroom. An upper level mezzanine bedroom is accessible by ladder and located just above the kitchen. A stone walkway connects the spacious outdoor deck to the lake and a hot tub. The treehouse sleeps up to four people.
Inhabit is one of Gibbons’ various nature-inspired treehomes that give life to your childhood dreams. Last year, the designer created the fairy tale-like Helix House, a 100-square-foot home made from wooden slatted beams that are shaped into a striking twisted form.
