Some prefer to watch reality TV for the ultimate escapism, others like to binge home shows for inspiration and motivation. Combine both of those desires, and you’re meant to watch HGTV’s “House Hunters.”

It’s hard to resist the allure of “House Hunters,” which has cultivated a loyal viewership over the many seasons. On the surface, it’s a home-focused show that helps interested homebuyers find the property that fits both their lifestyle and their budget, but once you start watching, you realize it’s much more than that — a series filled with over-the-top expectations and dramatic arguments that have you yelling, “PICK HOUSE NUMBER TWO.”

Luckily, new episodes of “House Hunters” are still airing on HGTV, but sometimes you just want to switch it up. Here is a list of home TV shows that have similar qualities that you know and love, but also showcase different formats and personalities to keep you on your toes.

Beach Hunters

“House Hunters,” but make it beachy. That’s the best way to describe “Beach Hunters,” an HGTV series that follows homebuyers as they search for their dream waterfront property. The format will feel familiar: viewers are introduced to the potential buyers and get an understanding of their desired home qualities, then they tour various properties that meet some of that criteria and pick one at the end. And don’t worry, disagreements are involved.

Property Virgins

Host Egypt Sherrod helps first-time buyers navigate the home purchasing process, filled with all the ups, downs, and in-betweens. In the beginning of each episode of “Property Virgins,” the potential homeowners lay out their wishlist of what they’d like their future property to have, then Sherrod steps in to guide them through the rest of the process — including the occasional realty check. She shows them a handful of properties and at the end of the episode, they pick their favorite.

Escape to the Country

This is basically the UK version of “House Hunters,” which means it’s also a lot more… tranquil. (Not to stereotype British TV, but have you seen “The Great British Bakeoff?” The best of humanity is seen in that show, minus the Baked Alaska episode). In “Escape to the Country,” households look to escape to the rural parts of the UK by touring a range of homes that fit their criteria, and at the end pick which one best suits their taste and lifestyle. The asks are practical, the reactions are understandable, and the decisions make a lot of sense.

Flip or Flop series

If you’re interested in seeing homes that are nowhere near ready for potential buyers and need to be heavily renovated first — a journey that often begins with complete gutting — and have plenty of drama involved, then you’ll get hooked on “Flip or Flop”. This series is unique in that there are multiple variations of the show based in different geographic locations around the U.S.

The first show that inspired the spinoffs is with formerly married couple Tarek El Moussa and Christina Anstead, who take disheveled in Orange County, CA properties and transform them into a product that they hope someone will buy. And there plenty of drama-filled commentary between the two hosts to keep you entertained, if the renovations themselves don’t do it.

One of the offspring shows is “Flip or Flop Nashville,” which follows exes DeRon Jenkins and Page Turner as they flip homes in the Music City. Not only do they take abandoned homes and turn them into sellable properties to better communities, but with their romantic history, it also makes for another great dynamic filled with “agree to disagree” moments. Other “Flip or Flop” series include destinations such as Las Vegas, Fort Worth, and Atlanta.

Say Yes to the Nest

After saying yes to the dress, the ideal next step often tends to be saying yes to the nest. This series follows various newlywed couples as they go on the journey of finding the perfect home, whatever that might look like for them. From being desperate to move out of their parents house to being on the hunt for the perfect starter family home, these couples get shown a range of properties that each have something they want. All they have to do is pick one at the end! (Easier said than done, as “House Hunters” shows.)
