It’s hard to think about the movie Up without getting emotional about that opening sequence — but if you can get past the tears, you’ll remember how iconic Carl and Ellie Fredricksen’s house is. The two live in an adorable yellow shingled house, which stays put even as the neighborhood around them is built up and overdeveloped. And then, of course, that very house floats away with the help of Carl and several thousand balloons.

It’s all iconic Pixar, and now, thanks to Airbnb, you can stay inside a real-life replica of the house. On May 1, Airbnb announced its new Icons experiences, which lets people book stays and experiences at one-of-a-kind locations, including the Up house.

“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination — until now,” Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO said in a press release. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”

The Up house, which is in Abiquiu, New Mexico, isn’t just a faithful realization of the one in the movie — complete with Carl and Ellie’s chairs, the Fredricksen’s adventure book, and a bed for Dug — it also lifts into the air. Thanks to 8,000 balloons (and a crane, naturally), the house literally is just like the one in the movie.

The house is pet-friendly and can sleep two guests who believe that adventure is out there. According to Airbnb, the brand brought Carl and Ellie’s house to life to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Up. Requests to book close at 11:59 PM PT on May 13, 2024.

Other Icons stays include the X-Mansion from X-Men (bookings close May 14 at 2:59 AM), a room in the Musee D’Orsay in Paris (coming May 21), and the house from the Purple Rain music video (coming in August).

And one of the best parts? All of the stays are less than $100 per person, and many are free, including the Up house! Three Icon stays are now available on Airbnb, and more will launch throughout the year, so it’s time to start planning an unforgettable trip.
