One major necessity for those embarking upon the unanchored adventure popularly known as #vanlife is to ensure that the mobile dwelling suits their needs to a tee. Sure, that can be done by choosing from the multitude of companies who will transform your van into a road-capable home with ease. Or you could take a unique approach and try out a van conversion kit from Happier Camper, which allows you to assemble a customized van in a process that requires less time and cash than a more traditional route.

The company has officially built upon on its Adaptiv Van Conversion Kit, resulting in a new version that currently accommodates the Mercedes Sprinter 144-inch wheelbase. Through the use of modular components or cubes, the kit allows users to arrange the trailer interior in various ways; it offers sleeping accommodates for four to five occupants, plus a variety of countertop and storage configurations. The conversion kit’s cube components are fully capable of functioning as indoor-outdoor furniture, due to their weather-resistant molded plastic material which allows them to withstand the elements.

The foundation of the customized build out is the modular floor, a 1.5” thick honeycomb fiberglass. Much like a LEGO system, the flooring contains grooves that allow the cubes to lock in place. The flooring also comes with table bases and D-ring tie-downs as well as front drain, which makes it incredibly easy to clean.

The wood components include the doors, lids, counter and table tops, each of which are made from material that bears the strength of traditional plywood with less weight. When it comes to making the layout your own, the table legs snap into the flooring with ease, while cushions and carpeted floor panels utilize a molded base to snap directly onto the floor on atop the cubes.

The layout options range from the simple and sparse Naked to the Queen Bed with front dinette and kitchenette, which makes use of the cube system to prioritize comfy sleeping arrangements and a focus on the ease of food prep and serving.

In addition to the modular system, Happier Camper also offers numerous add-ons to maximize the van customization experience.

While pricing has yet to be set, Happier Camper anticipates the base kits will start at $15,000, and the deluxe kits will start at $20,000, reports Curbed.
