This Clutter-Free NYC Apartment Has the Biggest Virgo Energy I’ve Ever Seen (and I’m a Virgo!)
Today’s the big day: Virgo season (which lasts from August 23 to September 22) is officially upon us. And as one of the few Apartment Therapy editorial team members who’s blessed to be this astrological sign (and to know what my color is based on my sign), I feel it’s only right to celebrate. Doubling down on that thought, as the home associate editor, I wanted to share a house tour that is quintessentially Virgo.
That’s when I thought of Fernanda Clark’s bohemian New York City rental apartment. Not only does her home feature the viral corduroy couch that Jeremy Allen White posed on for Calvin Klein, but it’s also bursting with organized color. At the time of the tour, she described her decor style as “’70s rock and roll rainbow.” Even though there are several different patterns, textures, and colors in her home — they all have similarities to blend together.
Fernanda’s a Virgo, so she, too, admitted that if she had to assign her home a zodiac sign, it’d be the same as her. “We are extremely organized and always pay attention to details,” she explained at the time of the tour. Speaking of organization, the home is only 350 square feet (she shares the space with her three cats!), so it’s imperative that the place stay clutter-free.
As a fellow Virgo, I appreciate how organized Fernanda’s space is. Previously, she lived in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Los Angeles, so downsizing and finding ways to make her space feel airy is no small feat. My universe feels off-balance when my home feels cluttered, and I immediately feel Zen looking at her apartment.
“I have created such a peaceful and fun environment that honestly, sometimes it’s hard to leave the house,” Fernanda admitted at the time of the tour. And can you blame her?
Fernanda’s Brooklyn home embodies common Virgo traits: detail-oriented (no clutter), dependable (it looks like a warm hug after a long day), and creative (all of the colors look like a fabulous place to find inspiration). As zodiac seasons come and go, looking at your space and seeing how it resembles your qualities is a fun idea. From one Virgo to another, Fernanda’s home looks like a place I could envision myself enjoying.
