If you’ve been on the hunt for a new sofa, our Personal Shopper series is going to be your most helpful resource. Those who have followed our forays into the top home retailers’ showrooms know we typically test and review all of their sofas (and other furniture categories) in-store to determine the best model for each kind of lifestyle. One of the OG posts in the series is our review of West Elm’s sofas. We covered a total of 14 models, so you could say it’s difficult to choose a favorite. But there are certain picks that are more versatile than others, lending themselves to a wider variety of spaces, interior design styles, and functions. One of them is the Haven. When we parsed through the data, we saw that this couch is the most popular one among our readers, and it’s not hard to see why. Although we viewed it in sectional form in the store, the two-seater version is perfect for just about any apartment dweller.

What is the Haven sofa?

This contemporary couch checks all the boxes if you’re looking for something that’s simultaneously small-space-friendly and good for lounging. Boasting a pine and engineered hardwood frame, the Haven is sturdy while still offering sink-in comfort. That’s because it boasts cushions made from high-resilience foam, which is then wrapped in a soft down alternative material. Although an innerspring system provides support, we still found both the seat and back cushions to be very plush. That, coupled with an upright sit, allows you to work and socialize from your Haven sofa. On the flip side, its low profile and deep seats still made us rate it as a highly nappable couch. We really weren’t lying when we said this model was versatile!

Why We Love the Haven Sofa

Aside from its cushy seats, the Haven sofa also stands out because of its trendy yet timeless design. Low profiles and deep seats are all the rage, and this sofa has both. But its clean silhouette and refined upholstery mean it’ll never look out of date. Its concealed legs only add to its modern appearance. The sofa is also very customizable; you can choose from four widths, including a 60″ and 84″ width, both of which are great for apartments. There are also numerous upholstery options, from neutral chenille tweeds to jewel-toned velvets. As a result, you can truly make this sofa your own and tailor it to your space.

Of course, if you do have the square footage for a sectional, we would once again recommend the Haven two-piece we viewed in-store. “Its movable back and arm pillows, long bumper chaise, and wide, deep bench-style seat cushions make it ideal for those who love to stretch out, lie down, sit up, or get creative with their lounge positions,” our review reads. “True to its name, the Haven makes you comfortable no matter where you end up on it.”

We have no doubt that you’ll be able to style the Haven and make it fit in with the rest of your living room decor. Its casual design and reversible cushions make it highly practical for everyday use, so you can enjoy lounging without having to sacrifice style. It doesn’t get much better than that!
