If there’s one thing I’m known for, it’s my love of bamboo bedding, especially sheets. As someone who sleeps hot all year round, cooling bedding is not only a want, but a need — and ever since I discovered bamboo bedding a few years ago, I’ve never gone back. From sheets to blankets to comforters, my linen closet looks like a love letter to the fabric. That being said, I still love discovering new products so I’m always down to try something a bit outside of my comfort zone.

A few weeks back, I was given the opportunity to put West Elm’s Silky Tencel Modal Sheets to the test. While I was skeptical about switching up my bedding, I realized that these sheets were the sister of the set that went viral on TikTok a few years back, so I was more than a bit interested in putting this version to the test. And reader, while I had high hopes for these sheets, what I didn’t expect was to fall so head over heels that I’m now ready to (gasp) retire my bamboo sheets.

What is the Silky Tencel Modal Sheet Set?

So, what is it about these sheets that have me ready to break up with bamboo for good? Made from 100% tencel modal, this fabric is designed to be, “more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk, and cooler than linen,” — and that it is. Its knit design also makes it incredibly soft to the touch. Once more, this set is also extremely breathable and moisture-wicking, making it great for hot sleepers. Top that off with its smooth and elegant drape design, and these are also sheets that look as great as they feel.

Why I Love the Silky Tencel Modal Sheet Set

The first thing that struck me about these sheets was how soft they were. Now, you probably hear people use the term “buttery soft” to describe bedding all the time, but I’d go so far as to say that these are whatever the next level above buttery is. The moment I opened these sheets up, I knew I had to put them on my bed. As I slipped under the covers, I let out an audible “WOW” that immediately turned into a satisfied giggle followed by, “Oh, I’m definitely going to need another set of these.”

The real test for me when it comes to sheets, however, is how I sleep through the night. These sheets could feel like sleeping on a cloud, but if I slept hot, they wouldn’t be right for me. Now, if I were to compare them to another fabric, I’d say they feel like a softer jersey-esque material, and historically that fabric hasn’t kept me cool. Well, reader, I’m more than happy to say that with this set I slept soundly and cool all night long. I think it’s safe to say that I’ve found a new favorite fabric.

You can get your hands on a set of West Elm’s Silky Tencel Modal Sheets in your choice of five neutral hues for $149 (Note: This is the price for the queen size). Now look, I’m not going to sit here and act like $149 isn’t a lot of money, but if there’s one area of your life you should invest in, it’s your sleep. Plus, something tells me that after you get a feel of these sheets, you’ll be glad you made the investment, too.
