Tabletop trends come and go, but one that’s recently re-entered the collective design world is colorful glassware — whether it’s pink champagne coupes, bright blue tumblers, or any shade of the rainbow in between. Believe it or not, the colorful decorative vessels you’re seeing today have some ties to the early 20th century, when what’s known as Depression Glass became commonplace in the United States. Following the stock market crash of 1929, glassmakers shifted from manufacturing luxury crystal to more inexpensively-produced colored glass products. These relatively low-cost wares were then marketed as little luxuries the average family could still indulge in, bringing a sense of normalcy and optimism into Depression-era homes.

It’s no surprise that these cheery-hued glass styles have made a resounding comeback — this time around with double the design variety. There are more ways than ever to display colored glassware, too, like on bar carts, open kitchen shelving, fireplace mantels, bookcases, and beyond. That’s not to say this fad’s purely decorative though: Adding a fun colored cup to your beverage rotation (and tablescape situation) instantly guarantees an extra dose of joy, no matter what you’re drinking.

While you can still luck out collecting original Depression Glass pieces from vintage sellers (or maybe even your own grandparents’ houses), most modern brands have leaned into this look with their own stylish iterations. To help stock your collection, we scoured the market to find some of the prettiest, well-made, and display-worthy pieces out there. Raise a (colored) glass to a few of our favorites below, categorized by style and available in a medley of shades, silhouettes, and sets.

Arguably one of the most popular, contemporary colored glassware trailblazers, Estelle Colored Glass has just about every wine and stemware style under the sun covered. The brand's collection runs the jewel-toned and pastel gamut, all of which are inspired by founder Stephanie Summerson Hall’s grandmother, Estelle, who loved antiquing. That means a modern-meets-vintage vibe defines each of her pretty, hand-blown pieces, known as “jewels for your table,” and, even though a little pricy, they're a solid jumping-off point for your own glassware collection.

West Elm
$25.60
was $32.00

This grapefruit-hued, fluted beauty is made of acrylic, not glass, but it’s arguably way too pretty to not include here (or use 24/7). Designed by Aaron Probyn exclusively for West Elm, this best-selling style is virtually shatter-proof, making it the perfect option for sipping at picnics, parties, and every occasion in between. While you can’t go wrong with a set of four for $32, you can also stock up on a set of 16 — which includes shorter sizes, too — for $120.

Coming Soon
$35.00

Designer Sophie Lou Jacobsen’s Ripple Glasses have been all over social media lately and for good reason. The fun shape alone is an obvious glassware game changer, but add a few vibrant hues into the mix and these ultra-cool cups are officially in a league of their own. Choose from a four-piece set in green, pink, amber, blue, or lilac, and keep their flexibility in mind — they all double nicely as a new vase or centerpiece vessel, too, if you want to treat yourself to just one.

3 / 5
West Elm
$28.00

A taller take on colored glass, pieces from West Elm’s beloved Essential Stacked collection nest into one another for easy storage. I actually use these Highballs as my own go-to glasses and can confirm both the sophisticated shape and blue shade brighten up even the most seemingly mundane beverages. Beyond that, I honestly love seeing them in action around my apartment, even if it’s just a water-filled one on my nightstand. Bring home a set of four or eight in amber or green as well, and choose the shorter style if that's more to your liking.

4 / 5
Pottery Barn
$99.00

If punchy, juicy shades are more your style, look no further than this vibrant set of tumblers from Pottery Barn. With a summery combo of tangerine and teal, this playful set is perfect for sipping lemonade poolside or mixing up an after-beach mocktail.
