Just before reaching the two-year mark under new ownership, the L.A. home that formerly belonged to Whoopi Goldberg is back on the market.  “The View” host sold her Pacific Palisades estate in February 2018 for $8.8 million after residing in the home for 20 years.  According to its newest listing, the home now has a $9.6 million price tag.

As Realtor.com’s celebrity real estate expert Erik Gunther describes the re-listed property, “Whoopi’s former home is a big whoop. Sold by the actress last year, it’s back on the market with a significant price bump. The art deco classic is in a primo location with plenty of room to roam.”

Despite the increased asking price, the site also reports that the buyers haven’t made any major upgrades to the home, but the local markets and the location (location, location) makes the extra million a perfectly reasonable request. The buyers originally planned to renovate the home, but found another family home.

The elegant manse sits on a beautifully landscaped 28,000 square-foot lot and has a two-story 7,000 square-foot 1930s Art Moderne main house. It has five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms as well as a one-bedroom, one-bath guest home situated above the garage. Additionally, the home features various original design elements such as the black-and-white checkered foyer flooring, fireplaces, crown molding and an onyx-clad master bath.

The modernized kitchen features stainless steel appliances and a sizeable island with bar seating. The living room features a fireplace and French doors that offer views of the pool and lead to the patio. There’s also a family room, a dining room and a library with built-in shelving.

Before being acquired by the award-winning comedian, the Palisades estate previously belonged to late English actor David Niven and Oscar Award-winning screenwriter Vicki Baum, for the whom the home was originally built. The current listing is held by Compass’ Dan Urbach.
