This Wild West Movie Town Is for Sale
Anyone looking to settle down in a place with a movie-inspired backs tory should look no further than this wild west-themed town just outside of Palm Springs, California. The owners of the Stargazing Desert Retreat in Pioneertown are asking $1,495,000 million for the Big Horn Ranch, which is located just 20 minutes away from Joshua Tree National Park. Built in 1990, the sprawling retreat obviously has no actual ties to real-life cowboys, smoke-filled saloons and high noon dustups, but it’s still an eye-catching estate nonetheless.
According to the listing, the property includes a 3,000 square-foot main house with four bedrooms—two of which are newly added—and two bathrooms. Its new living room/dining room area features vaulted ceilings and glass walls that allow for awesome, unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape.
The property also grants guests the chance to take a mental step back in time, thanks to its movie set town. There’s a train caboose-turned-guest room that also functions as a vacation rental, plus a newly renovated saloon that accommodates 80 guests and features an outdoor seating area, making it the perfect spot for a hoedown or some less rowdy downtime – owner’s choice.
And no worries for potential buyers who own horses—your animals can tag along for the desert stay, too. The retreat has a stable that holds eight horses, as well as three riding rings. But the inclusion of staples from the olden days doesn’t stop there: the property has a general store, a hotel, a church, a jail and a barbershop. An additional 7.37 acres comprising five parcels are also a part of the deal, along with the nine acres upon which the main house sits.
