These Ridiculously Stylish Shelves Give Me Extra Storage Without Taking Up Valuable Floor Space (They’re on Sale!)
When I moved from my tiny first apartment into a slightly larger apartment, I lost some prime organization options. My new apartment lacked the coat closet and built-in wall shelves that were in my old living room, so I was suddenly faced with the task of filling space I didn’t have to work with before. Not to mention all of my stuff that once had a dedicated spot now had to be re-homed. My dining area was significantly larger than before so I knew right away that I could add shelves, but which ones? After some thought (and lots of browsing home designs on the internet), I began shopping specifically for industrial-style shelving. I didn’t want to close up the space any further with bookcases or cabinets, and I also didn’t want floating shelves because I live in an old building. As irrational as it may be, I don’t fully trust the walls.
When I spotted the Juan Pipe Shelving from Williston Forge on Wayfair, I knew it was The One. It had great reviews and multiple style options so I could choose the one that was perfect for my space.
Out of all the shelving in Williston Forge’s Juan Collection, I went with the floor-supported style. They aren’t renter-friendly since you do have to drill holes into the wall, but I liked that they only had to be wall-mounted while the feet kept it steady with gravity alone. It’s important to check the measurements of the shelves as well as the area you want to place them so that you’ll know they fit seamlessly. I have two of the 70” pipe shelves (back in stock in early November), and they’re also available in a 59” style as well as a 47.25” style. The width of the shelves are roughly 29” for all, regardless of their difference in height. Besides, a benefit of having the shorter shelves is being able to hang art, tapestries, and photos above them. You can also place tall items on the top shelf without them being too cluttered or in the way.
Putting the pipe shelf together isn’t difficult, but it does take some time. However, it’s well worth the work involved since the end result is sturdy shelving that instantly upgrades your space. The shelves are made from solid wood that’s available in two finishes, brown and white-washed, and can be used to display your favorite photos and artwork or hold smaller baskets and bins. They’re also a great place for bluetooth speakers, candles, collectibles, and other decor. I have a little of everything on my shelves from candle warmers to a gifted neon rainbow light and it doesn’t take away from the vibe of the room. I also keep treats and supplies for my dog on one of the bottom shelves for easy access.
If you’re lucky, you can find these shelves on sale at Wayfair (Hint: Right now!). They are also available as floating shelves if that’s the style you prefer. Other than my table and bar cart, these shelves are my favorite pieces in my dining area. They filled empty space without overpowering it, and gave a much-needed modern upgrade to my very old apartment. The next time I move, they’re definitely coming with me!
