This Hidden Storage Cabinet Is the Smartest Thing I’ve Put in My Small Bathroom
My bathroom is a strange place. It has two showers (yes, really) and, naturally, one toilet. I have under-sink storage, and technically the bathroom mirror opens up to what should be a shelved medicine cabinet — except there are no shelves in the medicine cabinet at all. It’s just empty space.
As such, and because my bathroom is on the smaller side, I need more storage in my bathroom, always. I invested in an over-the-toilet shelving unit (that I badly need to replace), but that wasn’t enough for cleaning supplies I keep in the bathroom, as well as extra toilet paper. So, when I got my hands on the Yamazaki Tower Pull-Out Bathroom Storage Cabinet, I knew I had finally found my organizing solution. I’ve been using it for more than a year now, and I absolutely love it.
What Is the Yamazaki Pull-Out Bathroom Storage Cabinet?
The Yamazaki Pull-Out Bathroom Storage Cabinet is a slim, tall pull-out storage cabinet made of steel and wood. It comes in white or black with a brown wood top. It’s 22 inches long, 5.5 inches wide, and 21.75 inches tall. To give you a sense of how much it can hold, on their own website Yamazaki notes it can hold 12 rolls of toilet paper and a toilet brush easily. (I use it for a mixture of both cleaning products and toilet paper, depending on how much I have of everything.)
Unlike Yamazaki’s Rolling Storage Cart, which is a similar find on wheels without a pull-out drawer and has an open back side, my Pull-Out Bathroom Storage Cabinet is solid on all sides, so you could put it anywhere in your space — I could move it to the opposite wall and it would be just as useful. The Pull-Out Bathroom Storage Cabinet, like all Yamazaki finds, is not cheap — it’s $195.
Why I Love My Yamazaki Pull-Out Bathroom Storage Cabinet
I’m not the best at putting together furniture (I don’t consider myself very handy), although I’ve braved putting together other Yamazaki finds in the past and I know it’s really not that difficult. Still, I was excited that this cabinet came almost fully assembled out of the box — all I had to do was slide the pull-out drawer inside the cabinet, and voila! I put it in the corner of my bathroom and filled it with cleaning supplies I wanted to hide from sight.
The cabinet is super-high-quality; it’s made of heavy steel and very sturdy. I like the white and wood combo, which matches very well with my otherwise super-brown and weird rental bathroom. The pull-out cabinet rolls out very smoothly, and I’m able to store a lot of things in it (protected from the nasty, germy bathroom air, which I also appreciate). I also like that it’s closed on both sides, so when I eventually move (a near guarantee for me as a renter) I’ll be able to put the organizer pretty much anywhere without worrying about exposing what’s inside. Plus, while I use this in the bathroom I could easily see it being useful in a laundry room, a kitchen, a crafting space, or even in a home office, storing pens, notepads, books, or anything else I might want to put away.
