The Best Halloween Costume for You, According to Your Zodiac Sign

You could turn to your zodiac sign to inspire your costume on a literal level. Cancer, no pinching with those crustacean claws and, prideful Leo, yes, your lion’s mane looks magnificent.

But, why not get even more creative and find a costume that aligns with the traits of your zodiac sign? We asked astrologists to help translate the signs into Halloween costumes. Here’s some costume-party inspo.

Grab a cape: Fiery Aries are about as close to superheroes as mere mortals can get. The sign is action-oriented, courageous, and has a supreme sense of justice, says Narayana Montufar, a senior astrologer at Astrology.com and Horoscope.com. 

Taurus are known for being luxurious and beautiful, says Montufar. Stay true to your legendary sophistication and dress as a Greek goddess (or god). Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, sex and beauty, feels on brand for Taurus, says Montufar.

OK, yes, the Gemini twins’ multiple personalities can be scary enough the other 364 days of the year. Dial the fear factor up to a 10 for Halloween. Find a friend to go with you as the Grady Twins from horror classic “The Shining,” suggests Montufar. Hold hands and remember your lines: “Come play with us.”

Cancers are the most sensitive of the signs, says Leslie Hale, Psychic Astrologer at Keen.com. A nurse costume syncs up nicely with Cancer’s nurturing tendencies. But since Cancer places tremendous value on friends and family, organize an ER-themed group costume to really get this right.

Our bet is on Leo to win a costume contest. “Leo is known for being the center of attention and is the sign that embodies royalty,” says Hale. You’ve got plenty of options in this costume genre: A Disney prince or princess, a historical royal figure, or Burger King. Go ahead, play up the gold.

Virgo, we’re not suggesting that you have anything in common with the undead. It’s just that you’re a master when it comes detail, so we expect your makeup will look as though it was done by a Hollywood artist and we trust you to remember all the moves to “Thriller.”

Symbolized by the scales of justice, go one step further with your law and order theme. You could choose any judge, but Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg (AKA Notorious RBG) doubles as a pop culture icon. The perfect Libra costume plays up the sign’s strengths, so don’t shy away from your strong and powerful side, Montufar says. 

Scorpios tend to love Halloween, so we expect to be surprised by this sign’s costume year after year. Montufar suggests going as Black Canary, a DC comic superheroine who is sexy and mysterious. “Black Canary is Scorpio’s tailor-made costume,” Montufar says. Highly-trained martial artist and a songstress, her high-powered “Canary Cry” scream can shatter objects. A black leather suit is a must for this costume.

Actually, we’re nudging Sags to take the literal interpretation of their signs because they’ve got an extra cool one. “The centaur is a mythical creature whose lower body is that of a horse and has the upper body of a human,” Hale says. Get creative with horns or a crown of flowers, she suggests.

Go ahead, choose your favorite candidate and start campaigning to win a costume contest. Capricorns are ambitious to say the least. “Saturn is your ruling planet and is about structure, hard work along with wisdom and stability,” says Hale. (If you don’t want to get in any political debates, though, you could go as a CEO).

Grab your bell bottoms, peace sign necklaces and tie-dye T-shirts. “An Aquarius marches to the beat of his or her own drum,” says Hale. Plus, they love freedom and are known to be a bit eccentric.

Pisces are unique and magical and alluring by nature, as though they fell from the sky, Montufar says. Tap into these traits and dress up as a unicorn, she suggests. As known artists, Pisces will surely know how to put a creative spin on the costume.
