Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I am a (night shift) Registered Nurse in New York City Neurosurgical ICU, and also a full-time student working on my Doctorate. Being immersed in such a busy and demanding work environment I value coming home to a cozy, safe, and serene environment. Having to work in this pandemic has made me value coming home to an apartment that functions as a very calm and safe place.

In my free time between shifts today I decided maybe I can share what my tiny space is like to give others ideas or inspiration to do some of the same things in their small space. Now, more so than ever, with everyone being quarantined, we are in our homes and looking for things to do outside of working around the clock. I hope my very very small humble abode can inspire others to create a place they are proud of, feel safe in, but also functions as a calm and comfortable livable space.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: West Village, cozy, and refined.

What is your favorite room and why? Being that it is a studio with a lofted bed area it serves and functions as one room with minimal separation; therefore, I would say the entire apartment is my favorite room! The best view in the apartment is from the loft. From the large window located in the loft you can see views of Hudson Yards and the Empire State Building.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I found and bought for my space is a small stool, which I also use as a small bedside table in the loft area to place things on. However, when I have others over it functions as an extra seat in the living area for friends to use.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Stay true to yourself. We all have different tastes and concepts on what we want our homes to feel like. It is important to choose items that fit appropriately in the space to not over crowd it but make the home function in a comfortable manner. Purchase things over time, don’t rush to just fill the space; rather, wait until you come across those one or two things that you cant live without and speak to your specific tastes. When doing that you create a space different from any other, and people will notice!
