Why we have a crush on this property:

Who doesn’t love a good before and after? If you’re raising your hand, take a peek at the recent renovation of this 1780 Colonial home. Before photos show an old home with beautiful bones (think: exposed brick accents, wooden beam ceilings, incredible wood plank floors) but elements like beige wall-to-wall carpeting and wall paneling were obscuring some of its antique allure.

Post-restoration, the home’s original glory shines through — plus contemporary touches for a serene old-meets-new oasis. The once-carpeted stairs have now been painted in a matte, moody black, letting the stairwell sink into the background and putting a natural spotlight on the natural wood ceilings and floors. The living room fireplace, which was once encompassed by dark wooden paneling, has taken on a whole new look with a minimalist, stone-colored surround that almost blends into the wall.

Throughout the home, fixtures like golden shower heads, veined marble basins, and elegant sconces harmonize to create an atmosphere that just looks like a serene escape. I feel like I could finish a book in one sitting here, you know? I could finally have a capsule wardrobe consisting of only cotton and wool clothing, and be perfectly cozy all winter long.

Though much of the house is an homage to the home’s history, the renovation also involved an entirely new addition. The kitchen and a second living area reside in a sun-soaked extension, which features beamed cathedral ceilings, marble counters, and 16-foot sliding glass doors that lead out onto the wraparound porch. How much more idyllic does it get?
